The best of the student media – found only on Flisolo.com
Flisolo.com, the news, information and entertainment resource for students, has formed partnerships with more than 20 of the UK’s best student newspapers and websites.
For the first time, up-to-date news and sports news from top university media can be found in one place.
Students can now easily find out what’s happening at neighbouring universities (as well as their own), graduates can stay in the know about campus goings-on, and school-leavers can find out about life at various different universities without leaving the house.
Jack Sugden, at the University of Manchester thinks this is a giant step toward better communications between students: “As a student, your surrounding universities often seem out of reach even though they are right on their doorstep. It’s great we now have a single place to go to work out what is going on elsewhere- even down to finding fresh places to go out.”
The site also highlights the most interesting, funniest or most enlightening stories from the student papers, with the ‘Pick of the Student Media’ on the Flisolo homepage.
Gemma Davies is editor of The Courier – the student newspaper of Newcastle University. She says:
“From The Courier’s point of view the site is a really good way for us as potential journalists to get our work read by a much wider audience.
“Also, we’re always looking to improve on the content we provide our students so it’s great to have one place to get that information and see how we can work together.”
Each student publication has a specific page on Flisolo.com, containing information about the paper and the editorial team, and all recently published news and sports.
In addition, the site is now bursting with features written by students and recent graduates – sharing their experiences and providing information to their peers. (How much free work experience should I do? Where can I go for a cheap pint in Newcastle? How can I find out what my university’s doing for the environment?) These contributors are also building up professional portfolios accessible through their personalised pages.
Along with the growing database of film, music and venue reviews, Flisolo is continuing to develop into the most comprehensive information and entertainment resource for the UK’s diverse student population.
Hannah Johnson, co-founder of Flisolo.com, says: “We are excited to have had such a fantastic response from student newspapers across the country. It’s great we can provide our readers with what they want to read.”
