Guardian is the independent student newspaper for the University of Glasgow. Edited by Lucy Smith and Chris Watt, the publication hits the streets every fortnight during term time. All staff, including the editors, are unpaid, non-sabbatical undergraduate students at Glasgow University or the Glasgow School of Art.

For most, the act of riding a bike can be dropped into one of a few pigeon-holes, depending on perspective; a means for getting around, something to do along a canal path on the weekend, or the scourge of motorists the world over. However, as a competitive sport, it is something that Britain is more than a little handy at – across the various disciplines of cycling, UK riders currently hold no fewer than nine world championship titles, as well as winning numerous medals in top level competition – we are, as a country, pretty damned good on two wheels.

Glasgow 14 - 14 Northumbria At the close of yet another brutal season the Glasgow University ground out a tightly contested 14-14 tie with Northumbria University Tigers at the Scotstoun Stadium. The fixture saw a select side travel north from Newcastle to face a competitive but depleted Glaswegian outfit. The Tigers grouped together well, however, and rounded off another encouraging season with a charac¬teristic display of well organised defence and constructive attack.
