Durham University

Harriet May

Growing up in the States and studying in the UK, I've forged a kind of multi-cultural identity for myself (and a lot of air miles!)

British born and American raised, I've spent a good deal of time travelling. I've lived in the US since I was a mere speck (5 years old) and was shipped out at 14 for the British boarding education. I've studied at Newcastle, and I'm now about to embark on a Masters degree in Literary Studies at Durham, whilst preparing to pursue a law degree on Uncle Sam's side of the Atlantic. But whichever side I do end up on, I'll always be a British girl at heart. (After all, the Americans have yet to discover Pimm's...)

After its recent launch, Durham Arts Festival is set to take place from 14-21 June. It is part of an innovative scheme run solely by university students, not only to raise money for chosen charities, St. Cuthbert’s Hospice and The Arts Fund, but to ameliorate the relationship between the people of Durham and art.
